Case Overview

Reginald DeShawn Walker, a black man from Detroit, Michigan, was 27 at the time he was arrested by the Taylor Police Department (TPD) in 2013. He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 50 to 450 grams of cocaine (alleged amount was 52g) and sentenced to 24 to 40 years by Judge Michael Hathaway of the Wayne County Courthouse. The majority of drugs (~46 grams) were discovered on the floor of somebody else's home, however, the TPD charged Walker with all the drugs. Given Taylor PD's history of racism and corruption (See FBI complaint), it must be noted that the homeowner is white and Mr. Walker is black.
